I am importing into a 6.5++ database, so the XLS options for workbooks will not import. I had them do a 'save as' with the 97-2003 and 5.0 workbook formats and 6.5++ does not recognize the file. The DBF thing doesn't bother me as much because what we were doing there was saving an Excel spreadsheet with a title row as a DBF file. I can easily save it to another format and discard that first row.
2007's export as a .csv file works fine. It puts quotes around text that has an embedded comma, does not put quotes around text without a comma, but both of those situations imported fine with a gateway command. So I just have to change all the programs to do a gateway csv rather than gateway xls4 or dbf Karen > Karen, > > I can confirm that save as.. does NOT include an option for "DBF" the save > as option for "XLS" are 97-2003 workbook or Excel 5.0 or 95 workbook.
