I have 139900 rows in the table.  It looks like if I project a temp table with 
selected rows and then build the next view on the temp table it helps to speed 
things up.

When was the last time the disk drives were defragmented. Reloading the 
database will not be effective if the files are fragmented on the hard drive.

When the database is running slow,  does the task manager show high cpu and if 
so what is the process?  What network consumption does the task manager show at 
that time?

I agree that any anti virus programs need to have *.rbx files accepted.  I 
believe reporting back what process is taking CPU time will help clear up the 
question, or at least point to where the issue is.

How often is the database packed/reloaded?  Does it need to be done every day?
