We ran into printing problems a while back and here is the solution that worked for us.
 
Make sure when you first install the printer you check the box that says 'do you want your dos based programs to print...'. You may have to delete and reinstall the printer to get that screen...I don't think it comes up in edit mode.
Even after doing that, we had to run a batch file to get Rbase to print to networked printers. Each printer uses the same batch, just change the name of the printer (in this case it is going to the .HP_5si_Q.douglas_esd).
 
batch file:
capture l=1 q=.Hp_5si_Q.douglas_esd nb nff ti=5 au
Like I said, this worked for us...may not be the same as in your case.

Some printers will not print from DOS applications, and R:base has nothing
to do with it.

Try putting the output to the printer and dumping out some text.
R> OUT PRINTER
R> WRITE 'TESTING THIS adjuctive_here PRINTER'
R> NEW
R> OUT SCREEN

See what happens.
