I fully agree with Mike. Once you have got to know VB and the way to handle
data in an R:Base database (using RDO or ADO2) you simple enjoy the
beautiful user interfaces you can make and all the functionality that is
within reach. But .. the learning curve is rather steep.
When you want to make a simple app very quickly, R:Base (for DOS!) is much
better. I often make the maintenance programs in R:Base. Also the stored
procedures in which you have to manipulate a lot of data, are very easy to
make in R:Base. Conversions are another thing for which I still use R:Base
for DOS a lot.
