I use Windows 95 with a drivers for HP 4M and HP 1200 printers. The problem usually occurs in reports or labels from R:Base sent to the HP 4M, and most anything sent there from WordPerfect.
TTF fonts generally don't like PostScript printers, but there seems to be some sort of glitch in the TTF specifications for 8 pt type because I have a similar choking problem with the Futura 8 pt TTF font which I use in certain graphics applications, and also with the same point size in a couple of other TTF fonts which I have attempted to use. Whenever possible, I try to stick with Type 1 (PostScript) fonts in everything which I do. Much less headaches that way. If you have a PostScript printer and Adobe Type Manager installed, you can use any PostScript font, at any point size, in R:Base with no, or at least very few problems.
