Ken, In the mid 80's, we put a bar code reader in line with the keyboard (the bar code reader went into the pc and the keyboard went into the bar code reader) and had the choice of either entering the data manually using the keyboard or swiping a barcode with the wand. Back then the bar code wands were under $50. Believe it or not we even used R:Base to print out bar coded inventory sheets. My guess is that you can probably get great bar code readers today.
