Cheryl:
Sorted columns in the WHERE builder is the normal display mode in 6.5++ and
my users hated it as the normal ordering of the columns is setup in such way
that the key columns (and most used) are at the top of the list. For example
in my Work Order file, the work order number, wo_no is the top column and
the most used in the WHERE builder dialog but it displayed at the very
bottom...in 7.1 it displays a the top and they are very happy...different
users, different criteria...one option is to re-arrange your columns so they
show up in the order you want. You can do this by defining a view or, if you
want to change the order in the table structure, you can use the R:BASE for
DOS version that allows you to move the columns up and down in the Designer
(CTRL-F8 if I remember correctly), I wish 7.1 would have this option. I
believe that:
SET SORTMENU ON
Does not affect WHERE lists.

DUPROW is an EEP command that duplicates the current row. For example, you
can place a button that has the code:

DUPROW
RETURN

When you click on it, it will duplicate the current row, which you can then
edit; it is very helpful when you have to enter a lot of very similar
records. In 6.5++ you could type #DUP under the format mask for a field and
it would duplicate the value of the column on the next record when in data
entry. I have tried it in 7.1 with weird results; my guess is that this is
not implemented.
Sorry if I do not have better news...

Subject: [RBG7-L] - RE: Configuration File / Where Builder / Duprow.eep
questions

Thanks for your reply, Fran. I tried deleting my RBengine.cfg file.
When I went back into R:BASE and tried to go to the configuration menu I
got the error message that R:BASE could not find \RBengine.cfg. I guess
that means it didn't rebuild it.

I did find my configuration problem though. I'll share my error in case
it might help someone else in the future.

It finally dawned on me to look for an RBASE.DAT file that could be
causing the error. I found a five year old file that had been copied
over when the old 6.5 database was being converted to 7.1. It was
setting those two items off! After deleting the file, I can now run
with the configuration I need. The reason the other users didn't have
the problem was that their target directory was slightly different from
mine and did not point to the folder containing the RBASE.DAT file.

Now if someone can help me with sorting the Where Builder and the
Duprow.eep I'll be able to get on with my other bug squashing.

Cheryl

Try deleting all of your Rbengine.cfg files. Rbase will rebuild it when
you
open the file the next time. For some reason it does get corrupt. John
at
Rbase has helped me with that before.

questions

Configuration file question:
I'm having a problem saving a change to my R:BASE 7 configuration file
on my network computer. This problem does not affect all R:BASE users
on our network (only 2) and does not happen on my laptop. If I make a
change to the configuration under the display tab by checking ERROR
MESSAGES and STATUS MESSAGES then save the changes, the changes are in
effect while that session of R:BASE is open. If I close and reopen
R:BASE the changes have been lost. I checked to see if I had multiple
copies of RBENGINE.CFG on my C drive. I did have three extra copies
from R:BASE conference presentations so I renamed them and tried to edit
my configuration file again. It still is not saving my changes. What
am I missing?
