I had their popup selection displayed in a screen variable and then they could copy/paste into the desired row/column.Too much of a kludge and so I'll spiffy it up a bit.

If you can get them to upgrade to 7.5, the dbGrid has a feature for a
DropDown of either pre-defined values or a lookup list. One caveat is that
it only can display and return one column from the lookup table. But if
that works for you...
But, back to your 7.1 question - you could set the item they chose from the
lookup list into a variable and use the CLIPBOARD option. Then the users can
just press Ctrl-V to paste it.
SET CLIPBOARD .variablename

Subject: [RBG7-L] - DBGrid
RB 7.1
I moved a processing screen from a scrolling region to dbgrid and it has
really help smooth the feathers on some of our users. Slow
hardware/networking can make good s/w look bad and vice versa.
I've lost the popup capability in the rows/cells where the user can pick a
value. I now have a button outside the dbgrid where they can view a list and
type in a value. Is there an easy way for them to copy/paste from the list
into the desired cell/row?
TIA
