If you can afford it, I say go with Chris King. I have a bike with a King No Thread, one with a Grip Nut, and one with a 2Nut. They are attractive, perform flawlessly, are easy to adjust and come with a great warranty. As far as I know, King does not give US custom builders any sort of discount. Nevertheless, by my unscientific survey, around 70% of the bikes at the NAHBS had them. While much more the steel than titanium fan, the Ti King headsets are to me anyway among the best looking kit for bikes made in the last 15 years or so.
