Hey Rob,

I encourage you to try out the Bigmouth's.  I have the 521AG's
(Bigmouth's predecessor with the short throw quick release) on my Ram,
and I find them plenty safe for spirited riding, contrary to the BQ
article.  BTW, in the BQ article Jan tested the IRD B57 and assumes
they are just rebranded Tektros ( I haven't seen the IRD's, so can't
really vouch for this assumption).  Either way, the Tektros work just
fine, have a lovely barrel adjuster, and if the stock pads don't toot
your horn then some Kool-Stop dual compound inserts are only a few
bucks more.

I also have a pair of the Shimano brakes on my beater single speed,
and they are indeed a wonderous brake.  Maybe Shimano with come up
with there own super-wide QR, but I doubt it.
