I would think that zip ties would be more convenient than duct tape, both for putting the basket on as well as for taking it off. That's what I use, when I occasionally put the basket on my rear rack. I do have a jumbo cannister of zip ties in my garage anyway, so maybe that makes it seem more convenient to me.
