I can' wait to get my Bombadil going . . . but I'm waiting on some
crank width info as the Bombadil's chainstay clearance is tighter than
I expected. I'm hoping to use a TA Carmina in 185mm, but finding the
correct BB size appears to be trial and error. I need lower Q
cranks . . .like my Zephyrs. . . so I need to find the bare
minimum that'll work with 22/34/46 rings. I thought of putting them on
the Bomba, but I don't think the 122.5 BB is going to allow the arms
to clear the stays. A little dent on each chainstay would help :)

2" tires are fine for me too for off-road . . . I'm trying some
Michelin XC AT's that REI is selling currently for $18 a tire. For on
road I'm trying some Kenda Kwik Roller EZ's in 700x45. These are
relatively light at 610 grams with a folding bead and Iron Cap wall to
wall protection.

When I saw the rubber tips in the photos of the Bombadil . . I
thought of hiking pole walking tips . . . who knows.

Dave,

Regarding your Tubus racks . . .you may already be aware of this,
but Tubus makes rack extensions to get the rack up and back a little
bit for more clearance.
