I commute a couple of miles on a very dusty, dirt and gravel trail so I am
finding the need to clean at least the drivetrain a lot more than I was
used to in the past (when I lived near Sunnyvale). The bike starts to
squeak if I don't. One thing that was recommended to me by a friend who
owned a bike shop was to rub down the frame with plastic cleaner from TAP
Plastics (
http://www.tapplastics.com/product/plastics/cleaners_polishes/kleenmaster_brillianize/112).

He recommended this for powder-coated frames and it worked beautifully on
my old Surly, Bianchi and Soma. I haven't tried it on the Hillborne yet.
I may try it in a less conspicuous area just to make sure it doesn't cause
a problem with the painted surface.
