I rode mostly around town, it's rarely quiet enough that I would notice any bell "humming" even out on a deserted trail, between the derailleur click and tire contact noise bell vibration would not be a distraction at all as long as you were using a bell with a trigger. I like the Crane bells with the spring for around town, aside from a very loud, clear sound they also tell me when my tires are over inflated! Too much air & the bell rings by itself over any little bump! 😉
