I've been roasting my own for a few years, I started with a popcorn popper 
which eventually stopped working, now I just use a wire whisk in the pot 
that was once the popcorn popper. 1 pound at a time, usually lasts me about 
a week for twenty minutes of work. I usually get one of the sampler packs 
from sweet marias, it's a fair cost savings over buying good coffee and I 
think I get better results than the local roasters here in seattle. I 
recently picked up one of these - http://zenroast.co/ - for campfire 
roasting but I've yet to actually put it to use.
