The repaint thing is an interesting mental exercise depending on the bike.
 A friend of mine is pretty adamant about how the life of a bike frame is
finite and if you can extend that life by repainting it then it's a no
brainer.  Where it gets a little complicated for me is when I consider
repainting something that is somehow historically more interesting with its
original paint.  Case in point, I recently acquired a bstone MB-1 in very
good shape, all original.  Objectively speaking I know it's just a nice
early 90s lugged steel bike mass produced blah blah blah.  But it does have
some cache and I came back to bicycling in those days of bridgestone.  It's
perfectly fine to ride now but I've considered stripping down and giving it
a nice powdercoat in a subdued color to protect the frame.  It's a
conundrum...but a nice conundrum to have.
