Well Patrick, that explains where you lost me. I know what the term 'Red Herring' means. I never said a word about Marathon tires, so that's where you lost me. I've never ridden a Marathon. I've never ridden any Schwalbe tire. You got me confused with somebody else.
The reason I posted was that you made the blanket statement that narrow means faster. I will re-quote you here: 4:21 PM (3 hours ago) "I want to point out the option of narrower -- meaning faster or, less effort required -- tires." I was surprised you of all people would make a blanket statement about tires independent of construction. You use the word "supple" more than anybody on the list. You know that a fast tire made wider is still fast. You know a slow tire made narrower is still slow. In your followup, you reveal that you know that narrower does not mean faster.
