Thanks so much for the trail bike suggestions to date. I'd love to invest in the Atlantis or Bombadil and that may be the down the line plan. On that front, in the smaller size range, is there really much of a difference between those two models for trail use? I'm well equipped in the areas of rando/go fast so I'm looking for something stout and beautiful.
I don't have room in my life for too many bikes so I'd like to look for something interesting from the past as a trial bike. Love the idea of maybe a vintage Trek. I do prefer a rigid front fork and of course something lugged and steel. In the end, I'd rather have something vintage than a new, non Riv bike by Surly. Good point about the long top tube. I think those Trek Singletreks look terrific. Love this list for make/models to cruise via craigslist. I'm hoping that 48 cm vintage frames are not too scarce.
