That is encouraging!.  Re-reading that other thread, it seems like the rim 
width choice could make-it or break-it, and that may be why it works for 
some and not others.    On the other hand, there is yet more mention of 
chronologically-increasing frame clearances, so I still may be out of 
luck.   I think I'm going to have to just bite the bullet and buy some 
R&Rs, and see if they work.  (Makes sense to do this before moving posts 
anyway - for me, at least)

Thanks for the response.  I feel like I've hijacked Justin's thread though, 
and changed the discussion from what he intended.   I'm still  looking 
forward to what he and Lee can show us regarding 650b clearances.
