Re: [TANKS] Re: Le progressGeorge,
Can you provide any more information on your torsion bars? Length, diameter,
composition, etc. I've become quite interested in springs due to the Christie
suspension. I would have thought that true torsion bars would be quite
difficult to scale down. I don't mean to say that "Now that George has done
it, it's now easy". I would like to know more about the process of selecting
torsion rods. Might come in handy!

Absolutely not, you have to use spring steel rods.
I found a local spring shop and go in an occasionally buy lengths of spring
steel in various lengths, sometimes its just offcuts and is generally very
cheap to buy.

Thanks everyone for the replys, am a little surprised as I have previously
put up pics of this system in previous projects like my M41 and didn't get much
interest. I guess I have been secretly trying to suggest to some of you that
torsion rods can work rather well, especially when your tank has that nice
rocking motion or when the nose dives a bit when you brake.

If anyone was going to try this system out I would recommend using bump stops
to limit the travel at its extremes, this has many advantages.

  George
