motion but....Let me get this straight.  I am not sure my English helps 
understand "torsion bars"  .
In other words, do teh axles  of every suspension rotate , sort of twist, like 
the hacksaw blades of your first generation suspension systems? They are 
rigidly fixed on one end, so they come back when there is not "twist pressure " 
on them?

  Just a quick thought, if you had a large heavy tank a possible good source 
for the rods could be found at a car wreckers. You can find  spring steel rods 
in the boot of the car. They are often used to hold up the  rear lid( I think 
you might call it the trunk lid), they usually span across the width of the 
back with some bends in them at the ends and there is usually 2 of them and the 
general diameter of them would suit a heavier vehicle and I imagine they would 
be cheap as well. They are slightly thicker than what I am using but would suit 
something heavier.
