Clark, are you planning to include suspensions?  With suspensions , you'll
find out that the tracks tension when over an obstacle. That's because teh
wheels take the contours of the obstacle and the surplus of track follows
the same contours, if I make myself clear.

see and freeze seconds 4 and 3 when the brick is under the middle part of
the tank, to see the difference. A relatively sagging track climbs a
vertical obstacle with a very low speed.
(also, in teh same video, 1 full skid per second....)

 The tracks can be loose and sagging on flat terrain, when you don't need
all the tension and teh vehicle rolls smoothly with less push. BUt they
won't let you down when climbing an obstacle and you want the pins to engage
tightly.
