think i got it worked out how to do that second cut out, just a matter of getting all the cuts straight (don't want to have to make another one of these), but thought i'd take another look at some pictures of the actual tank's barrel and found the openings seem to be a bit larger than what i had found in the books
after looking at this picture, i'll have to go and re-doodle on the part here to get it more correct looking, it even looks a bit more different overall that the drawings was using (a bit too late now to see that...)
