the servos should work fine. I have not heard of any programming involved. 
Spektrum radios do need to be bound to the rx however. The bind plug should 
come with the radio.

You'll need a receiver battery and something to charge it.  Dunno what
a servo programmer is, I didn't need one to get the servos to work
with the radio.
