All my batteries are SLA .
I have solved this now , one of the batteries was duff,
I chose a 2 amp charger because I`ve been told charging at higher
currents can harm SLA .

this I dont understand:-"I have a 24v 6a smart charger and it takes
12
hours or more to fully charge two 18ah batteries wired in series."

Steve ,Why 12 hours ? why not 3 hours ?
