the "Nonetype" stuff is misleading... it's the stuff here at the
end of
the error message which has a hint.
any reason the net would drop out? is the backup over dsl? keep-
alives
set too low or some other form of timeout kicking in?

The link is e1000 in both ends, so there should be no lag. It may be
a timeout issue, though, is there a built in timeout in the rdiff
connection that I could tweak?
