Is it e1k <--> e1k via cross cable or switch? Some older e1000 driver
buffers don't handle cross cables very well. You might get on
sf.net/projects/e1000 and build the newest module. Of course if there is
some other network/router/internet between those two systems, the problem
could be there too.
