I should have also mentioned that the "dump" or "diversion" control can be done via an AC load with a relatively inexpensive AC solid-state relay and AC loads such as AC baseboard or AC electric water heater elements - which are much easier and less expensive than doing it with the lower voltage / higher current DC relay and loads.
The OutBack FX series offers an AUX output control mode for both AC and DC diversion which has a fixed voltage level but has an adjustable "on" time which can be set to zero for applications using a solid-state relay.
