How many in series?  Were you paralleling any strings off the roof?

I have seen this with too many MLPEs.  I share your concerns about the rapid 
adoption of these failure points.  I would assume they would be engineered such 
that, even in a significant string overvoltage incident, they didn’t produce 
catastrophic failure.

Panels were: Silfab 330 BL @STC Isc = 9.83A, VOC = 42.24

RSD-S-PLC Input volt range = 8-80V Max cont input current =15A

So, panels are well within the operating range of the RSD’s.
