Thank you for the suggestions. I am running CentOS 6.4 (64-bit). The 'yum
whatprovides' command yielded "No Matches Found". I then followed your
earlier suggestion to install automake. This actually was successful in
installing the autoreconf tool, but when I ran 'autoreconf -i', I got this
error:
configure.ac:17: error: Autoconf version 2.67 or higher is required
I looked, and autoconf and autoreconf are both version 2.63.
I'm guessing this means that right now CentOS is out as a platform for
building readable. That is, unless I'm willing to modify the yum
repositories I'm using, or manually install later versions of the automake
tools. That's probably okay, as CentOS is meant to be a stable server
environment, not a developer box.
