Because they essentially extend the framework; the wrapper code for them has to be compiled even if you're not using them (since whether or not you're using them can't be determined until the linker stage). In earlier versions of RB (but at or after 2005), this was a big issue. Nowadays, the plugin wrappers are precompiled, as is the framework, so it's much less of an issue. But I was just brainstorming what may be the difference. I don't see the problem; I don't have any plugins; perhaps there's a correlation. Or perhaps not. Hard to know until we ask.

Well, that suggests that plugins are not the problem then.
I think the reasons why some people and some not are reporting are because of the following: a) Different tolerance level that people have. b) Not all people have huge projects c) Some people started off with REALbasic in version 2005 and don't have 5.5 to compare to.
No, there's also (d) Some people don't see the problem, but don't fall into (a), (b), or (c) above. I'm in situation (d).
