Doesn't
mean it was fair or right.
Nor does it solve anything or make any difference.
The fact is, certain developers gained a competitive advantage for
delivering on the Mac platform. Were I them, I'd probably exploit the
heck out of it. "Make hay while the sun shines", and all that.
Blaming Apple make make those who didn't gain the advantage feel a
bit better about their own decisions, but it doesn't pay the rent.
You're absolutely right. And the fact is no matter how upset we get at RS or
at Apple, it's not going to change anything.
But I honestly wish someone big enough was upset enough to pressure Apple on
this one. A quick call from a state attorney general or a couple lawyers to
Jobs to say "Don't try this again." If it's not acceptable behavior from
Microsoft, then it's not acceptable from Apple. Incomes and businesses are
on the line, and at least one major product was killed *to Apple's advantage
in that market space*, which is why I feel Apple should be getting some heat
over this. (Although admittedly probably no one on this list is large enough
to generate any heat Apple might feel.)
