Is there a way to use ShowUrl to send mail.app an email address
(main, cc and bcc), a subject and body?
I tried ShowURL "mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]"+"?subject="+msgSubject
and that worked. But I'd also like to send the body of the
message as well.
Hints?
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
cc=your_cc_list&bcc=your_bcc_list&subject=Your_subje
ct&body=Your_body
Yes, but very few emails would have a one-word body. =)
What you need to do is make sure that your body and subject text is
URLEncoded before you attach combine it in this manner.
Two other notes:
1. This will not work with all email clients... most support this
format, but I don't think that it is part of the official specs and
so a mail client does not *have* to support the body tag.
2. There is an issue where the user's email is accessed through an
internet browser (like GMail or Hotmail)... this command would
launch the default email client which the user may never have used
before and might be unable to send the email. There is not much
that you can do about this, but it is something to be aware of.
Thanks for all the info guys!
The syntax given works fine. I'm not too concerned about supporting
all email clients, just the most common one for each platform.
Mail.app for Mac. Note sure what the default email handler is for
Windows XP.
