(I'm not sure which comments you find very disturbing...and I'm * NOT *
trying to start a 'bug v. new features thread.')
I disagree with Joe's opinion -- I don't think we're talking about a noisy
few, nor are we talking about a consensus.
I find RB2006 great for many of its new features. I use it far more often
than 5.5, but I have only one active giant project.
With diligence and testing, one can determine whether RB2006 is a good
choice for a given project.
The support on this list is (continues to be) a phenomenal resource.
Caveats:
* Many very large projects can crawl on compile
* Features are sparsely documented; perhaps this would be more
fairly stated that feature and control limitations are sparsely
documented. This is true of new and old features.
* Many old bugs still exist; if you know of project critical bugs that
once existed, I recommend checking the feedback system and verifying
fixes. Some new bugs have been introduced, but aren't documented
except in the feedback system.
There have been some strong opinions expressed about why some RB users do
not use RB2006 at all, or don't use it for a majority of their work. If you
look at the names of folks who have posted re: limitations of RB2006, you
find some (a) very capable programmers, and (b) very active and helpful list
members.
