I love these philosophical debates! ;) I think you've both made valid points, but given the broad diversity of people here with their heterogeneous interests, needs, levels of knowledge, writing expertise, temperament, etc., nobody is ever going to be able to please everybody all the time, no matter how hard she/he tries. This forum isn't a formal banquet with all the food items carefully prepared per a pre-planned menu, catered, and brought to the table in carefully timed and ordered courses by uniformed waiters. It's more like a potluck supper where you just don't know what's going to be on the table until you come by and have a look. If you want the former, go find yourself a nice tutorial site or buy somebody's book. If you want the latter, come on over here and browse. Just ignore those posts that irritate or disinterest you and feast on the ones you like.
