In my experience it is an ugly but effective tactic. Sometimes the only thing that works. Do you roll your eyes and tell people to go home each time there is a march in Washington or London, or world-wide protests for some global event? I agree rioting at G8 is overkill, but that would be like spamming or DDOSing this list.
