Every press release I've read, including the one issued on June 6,
2005, said "BY this time next year", which is a very broad statement
indeed, and doesn't say ANYTHING about June 2006.

I've never seen anything from Apple that said they were scheduled to
ship in June.
I'm sure a lot of people interpreted that as shipping in June of next
year (this year) and that's why shipping in January was "6 months
early" and caught a lot of people by surprise.
