I changed the MIME types on my servers a while back for ScopeDriver
(<http://www.adpartnership.net/ScopeDriver/>) and -- while the
archives then downloaded properly -- I had trouble reports from many
downloaders attempting to decompress the .sitx format. I eventually
went back to the .sit format, and all was well.

Another option is to change the extension from ".sitx" to ".sit"
which is usually already defined as a MIME type. StuffIt is smart
enough to know during decompression that it is really in the
".sitx" format.
