We use OpenBase SQL in our LightSpeed product and couldn't be happier with its ease of installation, performance and stability. Its also wonderfully easy to maintain with great admin tools, not to mention excellent tech support.
Not expensive for the quality you get and many pricing options/configs are available. Fair licensing also if you plan to distribute it with your product.
