I know I'm coming into this thread late after a lot has been discussed
already (mostly about generating PDF bookmarks), but I just wanted to add my
own responses...

HelpLogic generates PDF files with PDF bookmarks based on the Table of
Contents in your HelpLogic project. So for example, if you created HTML
help pages and a TOC within HelpLogic for use with UniHelp 2, then you could
also use HelpLogic (the full version) to publish those same HTML help pages
as a PDF file with TOC-based PDF bookmarks:

In fact, if you download the latest UniHelp 2.1 for REALbasic, you'll notice
that the included "UniHelp Guide.pdf" was created with HelpLogic and
includes PDF bookmarks of the Table of Contents.

Obviously, InDesign (as mentioned previously in this thread) is a GREAT tool
that can also generate PDF bookmarks. If you do a lot of page layout work
as a designer, then the hefty price is worthwhile, but if you only need a
tool for generating help files, then you may want to check out the much more
affordable HelpLogic (which is also available for both Mac and Windows).

A new improved version of HelpLogic is coming soon (which will be a free
update for all HelpLogic customers)...

What I think Brendan means by this (based on feedback he has sent us in the
past) is he is looking for a help system that he does not have to
reconfigure settings every time a new version is released that he wants to
integrate into his apps. He wants a component that he can replace in his
app with the latest version without having to constantly tweak the
configuration code for.

While that used to be the problem with the old 1.x versions of UniHelp, we
actually listened to his feedback awhile back and radically changed the
architecture of UniHelp 2 last year to utilize a more modular class-based
framework, so that upgrading to the next release of UniHelp does not require
any code tweaking. For example, we just released UniHelp 2.1 and replacing
it in your apps requires only swapping out the old classes for the new
classes -- no code has to be updated.

But it sounds like Brendan stopped using UniHelp before the new UniHelp 2
system was introduced. Of course, his UniHelp license still works with
UniHelp 2 if he ever wanted to revisit using it in his apps. ;-)

Hopefully, none of the above sounded like a shameless plug... Just trying to
set the record straight for anyone out there who is reading this thread and
not familiar with UniHelp or HelpLogic. :-)
