Big players as in one of the OS vendors?:-) One of my "seven sins that can kill your software company" is in a competitive situation when you havent misjudged the direct competition but the indirect competition that turns the total market against you. For example, one threat to cross-platform development is that Adobe may actually come up with a good Flash-like based standalone building solution with native looking widgets. I think it unlikely that Apple is going to port Cocoa/xCode/Objective-C to Windows and Linux after they took pains to kill off what little they had with NextStep - and something from MS? No way - there are better markets to plunder. But there are are a host of cross-platform solutions out there that do not seemingly compete with REALbasic, yet could eat away at the potential market for it.
