It would be interesting to find out what RS did for licensing issues.
If the Plugin is GPL because is based on libmysql, then no matter what
the server is, the application will still need to be GPL. As one of the
components are release as GPL, you cant have ANY component based on GPL
if you want to go commercial, unless you pay the piper.
In another words, if the plugin is made with a GPL(it makes sense
because its the easier thing to do, not fair tho) code, then the plugin
falls under derivative works!!! No ins and outs! You have a dud! And
your application falls under GPL. Cool I should make a list of RB Apps
and go shopping and ask for the source. ;)
Which means that you have to pay for the 1) plugin, 2) for the MySQL Server.
Can any one provide a FOR SURE, printable license either way?

Nope. It states: the one that provides the server to which I connect
needs to pay the license. If the server is already running and is
paid, then just connecting to it does NOT make me to buy a new server
license.
But, you DO have to buy a new client license (unless you opt to GPL
your code - and we end up right back at the start of this thread)...
