Yes, it's licensing is confusing, and it's website is even more so, but Sheesh.

yeah, I'm interested in the discussion but even I'm starting to tire of it. Their licensing has always been cloudy and their staff don't make it any sunnier.


GPL option:
You distribute your source with the app under GPL
Note: There is nothing to stop you from selling the software, as long as you give the source code away with it.

which raises another question from me. If you release the source, doesn't it have to be free of any commercial dependencies? eg. Commercial plugins ala Monkeybread, einhugur etc. I seem to recall from some deep. dark place in my memory that *any* reliance on a commercial component meant it couldn't be released under the GPL.


The only better offer out there is postgreSQL, and while I agree it is powerful and progressing very quickly, it is not a reliable enough base for me to work from just yet.
