However it's not doing anything intensive. Very few sprites, moving around slowly. Try to make sonic the hedgehog in RB and then we'll talk again ;)
I wrote a few games back in version 2 on System 7.5 on a 66 mhz machine with a whopping 16 mb of ram. With the SpriteSurface I could write a nice space shooter that moved very quickly. Today's machines are at least 100x more powerful than back in those days. And with the SuperSpriteSurface, very impressive things are possible as it's using OpenGL behind the scenes.
Additionally, Sonic the Hedgehog originally ran on a 7.61mhz processor with 64 kb of main ram. Nearly every computer I've ever owned has been more powerful than my old Sega.
While I agree writing the next Halo isn't really the best project for REALbasic, a Super Mario-like game (which the OP was wanting to do) is completely possible, even without time spent on optimization.
I say go for it! :) HTH, -Jon -- Jonathan Johnson [EMAIL PROTECTED] REAL Software, Inc.
