Please give the forums a chance.
Been there, they are forums, I don't have the time for that!
Basically forums of any kink BLOW GOATS.
Rather than having the information automagically appear in my mail
reader pre sorted into the REALbasic box, and organized by thread,
I've now got to browse to some web site, log in, and then click
around for hours trying to read threads that may or may not be of
importance to me? It isn't going to happen ...
I subscribe to more lists than just RB, and if the organizer can't be
bothered to send me the conversations, then I can't be bothered to
read them.
Also, by shutting down the list, I no longer have a local archive of
knowledge that I can reference (yes, spotlight is great).
By saying "Give the forums a chance" meaning "The forums are your
only choice now" you have terribly inconvenienced an entire
community. Congratulations.
We are looking into options to improve them to work as best for
everyone as possible.
If you want to improve them start by looking at Google Groups. Make
sure they work at least as well as that, then go from there.
Google Groups behaves as a mailing list that you can also peruse and
post to from a web browser. I'm sure that there are other excellent
implementations of such lists all over the web.
In addition to consolidating information,
Huh? the RB-Nug was consolidated ... the forums are basically the Nug
fractured into a dozen tiny remnants, how is that consolidated?
we have also had some issues on other mailing lists where vacation
messages were auto-responding hundreds of times to the list
overnight. Not only did we receive complaints about this, but we
were also temporarily marked as a spammer, causing some people to
not receive messages from us. These messages included lists
messages and other emails we were sending - license keys, etc.
Sounds like poor administration of your lists to me. None of my other
lists seem to have problems with away messages.
Good by NUG :-(
