I think that what bothers some people about your messages is not the content but the tone. When you throw in phrases similar to "if you want community, join a commune" or "I won't connect the dots for you" you "push buttons," so to speak" in the person to whom they are directed. You are quite correct in pointing out the importance of precise language and how we understand things based on our assumptions, but the fact remains that we do, and your messages sometimes strike me, at least, as not just hurtful, but DELIBERATELY hurtful, as if you are making an explicit attempt to hurt feelings. You might be right if you were to say that I should be able to not react to your phrases that seem hurtful, but I do, and I suspect that others do, and if you know that, one wonders why you write them.
