Hi Alessandro, There are a number of client apps out there--Graham has done a couple of chat systems, Phil Bevan an email client, Dirk Weyand a number of things--but it's hard to guess what will be a popular app. AltME has certainly reduced *my* incentive to write a generic chat/file-sharing system, but that doesn't mean other don't want to aim for that target.
Now, if you could provide *access* to other forums (e.g. Google or Yahoo groups, various PHP-based forums, etc.), and have an integrated REBOL desktop app for them, *that* would be way cool to me. I'm on slow dial-up and generally avoid forums because they're just too slow. I would also like a really good RSS feed reader, which shouldn't be *too* hard to do, but I haven't done it yet. I don't know if that would gain any traction for REBOL, as there are so many others out there, but I don't like any of the other standalone readers I've found. My main suggestion would be to start small, and ask what specific application people here would use most. I don't use Java/Zope/PHP, but maybe others do, and would want to work on that. I think REBOL is great for building wrappers around libraries; taking complex APIs and exposing easy-to-use dialects or command lines. Is there a popular library people know of that would benefit from that? I'd also like to see people jump into projects like James Marsden's Flounder editor, or just about any of Volker's cool ideas (e.g. diff, filemarks, snapsets). There are a ton of great bits-and-pieces out there. -- Gregg -- To unsubscribe from the list, just send an email to lists at rebol.com with unsubscribe as the subject.
