Are you advocating that we should live in a theocracy? That is the alternative to the
secular
State. Of course, then the question is: whose theocracy? Which of the fundamentalist
tyrannies do
you prefer?
Your approach to the secular seems to be that it alone is responsible for all kinds of
atrocities
and evil. I find this rather offensive. Rather very much like those who speak of
"Christian
values" when they speak of morality as if no-one else is capable of knowing what moral
principles
are or having the capacity to live by them.
The secular is not anti- anything whether religious, spiritual or moral but generally
facilitates the freedom to follow whatever path is chosen. The present lack of
morality or
goodwill from the top of govt is precisely because one little man is trying to impose
his own
narrow view on all of us in the name of his perceived religion. He is following a long
line of
similar impositions - most of the religious in one way or the other.
