Isn´t the latest version´s build.xml corrupted/wrong? I´m almost sure I read people talking this week about this problem... Myself I had this problem also and fixed it by editing the Ant build.xml and defining those undefined vars in the beginning (java.target_version and build.compiler). Another fix I remember reading was to download the build.xml from an older version, that it should be OK also.
