Do your network cards have a 10Base2 (coax) or 10BaseT connector (looks
like a phone jack) or both. If 10BaseT, use Cat 5 cable. It has 4 twisted
pairs of wire. You only need two pairs but if you decide to move up to
100mb cards, you can use same cable. If your NE2000 is 10Base2, you have to
use coax. Unless it has an AUI port. Then you might can find a transeiver
that converts to 10BaseT.
I have never connected two computers with coax. Coax has to be terminated.
Also don't know about cross over. Twisted pair has to have cross over when
you crimp the wires in your connectors. Unless you go thru a hub. Then you
wire straight thru.
Tell us what kind of connectors your cards have.
Also, is this for two redhat machines, Win 95 or what?
